Ohians- nice people!

May 31, 2007

I have to say that I enjoyed immensely my trip to Ohio last Memorial Weekend.

One thing that stood out the most for me is the friendliness and warmth of the people of the buckeye state.

Taking photos is one of the hobbies I enjoy the most and the trip wouldn’t have been complete if I didn’t have my camera with me.

Check out the photos from the trip here

PS: I am still editing the videos from the trip and they will be published within the next week.

This Memorial Day weekend, I will be frolicking in the Buckeye State (Ohio) with friends and family.

Now, I have to admit that even though more than three years have passed, I still hold a slight (very slight) discontent towards the Ohians because they’re the reason John Kerry lost the 2004 Presidential Election.
Hopefully I can move past that BIG travesty in the very near future though.

Perhaps they can win over my heart with some good ole buckeye charm.

Look forward to some video blogs from my Ohio trip in the coming days.

Here’s to a FUNtastic time in the Buckeye State!

A few notes for my international readers
  • The Buckeye State is the nickname for Ohio, one of the 50 states that make up the United States of America
  • In the United States, Memorial Day (May 28, 2007) is celebrated in honor of those who died in any war or military action.

One of the first things I do every morning (though sometimes I forget) is feed Yoshi, my pet beta fish.

It was different this morning however when I did the usual and dropped a few Beta Bite pellets in his tank. Typically, he’d dash to the surface of the water to get his food. This time however, there was no movement.

I tapped on the glass, no movement, put my finger in the water, no movement (male beta fish are very territorial).

When I turned on the light in his tank, there he was, to the bottom, not in his usual red-orange fabulous frilly outfit; he was wearing brown and orange- definitely NOT matching!

Typically, I’d summon the fashion police pronto, but I figured they couldn’t help…It was too late; Yoshi was dead!

Some thoughts on the day of Yoshi’s passing…

  • He had a long, nice life! 2 Years! Most people didn’t think he’d survive a week in my care
  • Is it wrong to flush him down the toilet?
  • It’s a good thing I did not get the $69 Water Filtration and Auto-feed system at PETCO the day before!
  • Did I kill him?! I changed his water two days ago
  • It must stink in fish heaven!

Rest in peace my dear Yoshi.

Yesterday, I heard the news that one of my favorite cousins was involved in a vehicular accident in Trinidad. Here’s an excerpt on how one of the local newspapers reported it…

“…he lost control of the car which went airborne, struck a huge tree, and overturned several times. The four persons in the car suffered serious head injuries and broken bones. Two of the victims were thrown from the vehicle while their clothing remained stuck in a tree….”
My cousin was severly injured but did not sustain any life-threatening injuries (praise be to God!). Certain things came to mind though in the flurry processing what happened…

  • The car hit a tree and flipped several times…Can someone tell me how did his clothes end up in the tree !?
  • …looking at the carnage, he’s blessed to be alive!
  • If he was wearing a seatbelt, the injuries would have been less extensive (i.e. dislocated hip (sic), broken ribs, broken, leg, etc, etc.)
  • Why was he driving without a Driver’s License!?

New Jersey Trip

November 23, 2006

Random thoughts on the way to NJ Thanksgiving Day.
  • Screw you weatherman! Why did you make it rain today!?
  • Is that woman seriously combing her hair while driving?
  • Hmph…The radar detector just went off again. Dont cops celebrate Thanksgiving?
  • Panic! My Venti Chai Tea is almost done. Gotta find a Sbux quick!
  • oooh….gotta pee. Rest Stop next two exits.
  • Hmm…Think if I go under that flyover anyone would notice me?
  • Okay, there’s only so much Bob Marley I can take. Time to groove to my future ex wife BeyoncĂ©.
  • To the left…..to the left
  • To the left….to the left
  • She needs to hurry up and go on tour.
  • Poor Yoshi (my pet fish) four days, no food.
  • He’l be all right; he survived 5!
  • Agh…finally there… food time! Bye!\
