New Web site

January 17, 2010

Thank you for sharing  in my life experiences through pharaohsprotege.com. As you have noticed, I have not written any new material in quite some time. I am currently working on a new web site to be launched in mid April. The new professionally designed web site will have a new look and feel. I look forward to sharing that with you once it is completed. Until such time, I invite you to join me in living up to my personal mantra which is to share unconditional love and respect for all.

With fraternal love,

Murderer: Rest in Peace

November 11, 2009

DC Sniper John Allen Muhammad

Tonight at 9pm, in Jarratt, VA, by means of Lethal Injection, DC Sniper John Allen Muhammad will be executed.

I lived in the DC area around the time at which he and his accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo murdered ten innocent victims. I understand what it meant to be subject to their reign of terror. This is personal to me.

Right now, 7 years later and years before then, I cannot say that my opinion has changed on this subject. I do not and cannot support tax-payer funded murder, that is, by and through the Death Penalty.

I personally give credence to the theology of forgiveness as taught by most world religions. In light of that, I hope that he was able to ask forgiveness for what he did and dare say may he rest in peace.

Have you seen her?

Somer Rene Thompson

Somer Rene Thompson

It always breaks my heart whenever I hear of a child missing. Somer Renee Thompson, 7 of Orange Park, FL was last seen on Monday, October 19 wearing a cranberry colored jumpsuit with pink-striped sleeves. She has  brown hair which was in a pony tail at the time she went missing.  Somer is 3′5″ and weighs 65 pounds.

The power of prayer, even by strangers has been proven for centuries. Please say a prayer for Somer, her family and those involved in the search for her.

Finally, and most importantly, if you have seen Somer or know about her whereabouts, please contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 904-264-6512 or call 911.

UPDATE: Two days almost to the hour after Somer Renee Thompson disappeared walking home from school, a body likely to be the first-grader’s was found Wednesday in a Georgia landfill. Read more

After workout PAIN

October 21, 2009

personal_trainer_from_hell_tshirt-p235385186569553808qznd_400Today I reconnected with and trained with my Personal Trainer of over three years. I’ve long considered him to be one of the best Personal Trainers out there. He not only pushes me to my limit, he pushes me beyond my limit.

I’m in bed writing this and my entire body (more particularly my legs) is sore beyond measure. Why do people put themselves through this? Seriously! Why? Tomorrow I will research costs and complications for Liposuction.

PS: I feel like I deserve some chicken wings or pizza as a reward for my hard work at the gym today.

Flu Shot

October 9, 2009

srp-flu_shot

Every year I  skip getting the Seasonal Flu Vaccine because I hate needles. Okay, I do not just hate needles, I’m terrified of  the PAIN that they inflict.

Today, I got my seasonal flu shot. The nurse promised no pain, just “slight pressure”. In my mind, I shouted “yea right!”.

So I sat in the chair, took a look at the needle, squinched and waited, stopped her in mid air and asked if she had the  nasal mist version of the vaccine. She chuckled and said no.

So I waited for the excruciating, body-numbing pain and for the blood to start streaming down my right arm. Nothing happened. It was over before I knew it started. I’m so embarrassed.

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by each experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, “I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”- Eleanor Roosevelt

My baby cousin Rene

Rene taking the wheel

I couldn’t imagine how much work it is to take care of a kid until my baby cousin and god-daughter Rene came into this world eight months ago. I take care of her every once in a while. She’s adorable; especially, especially, especially when she’s asleep, has not pooped and when awake, not crying. I love the little munchkin.

Next week

Me stretching after an early morning workout.

Me stretching after an early morning workout.

For the past month and a half, around this time, every Friday I’d commit to getting back into the gym ‘next week’. Other than Yoga once in a while, I’ve been a lazy bum; and yea, I feel like it. Dare I say, I look the part.

It sucks looking at the bathroom mirror. If it had a mouth, it’d ask where’d the muscles go or is that a, nah, could that be a roll forming there?

I know, pathetic, that’s considering the progress I’ve made over the years.  For those of you who do not know, that’s my losing 30 pounds and 10 inches off my waist a few years ago.

So here I am, another Friday evening, making that commitment; this time in writing. I am going to make use of my gym membership, the one I pay for every month. This coming Monday, I’ll be at the gym, starting off with Reaction Cycling Class, the class that I love love love to hate (I’ll talk about that sucker another time).

Wish me luck.

Ali, burn that suit and tie!

CNN's Ali Velshi

CNN's Ali Velshi

I like Ali Velshi, Chief Business Correspondent and host of CNN’s Your$$$$$. Ali is a really smart guy and usually makes a lot of sense when he steps up to the mic; he was wrong though for what he wore on the air yesterday and I have to call him out for it. Above is a picture; you be the judge. My advice to Ali: burn that suit and tie!

Oprah Winfrey interviewing singing sensation Whitney Houston

Oprah Winfrey interviewing singing sensation Whitney Houston

I just got through watching the second half of Oprah Winfrey’s interview of Whitney Houston. I’d be lying if I said that I was impressed. Also, I cannot say that I was convinced that she was completely truthful.

What I saw and heard was hardly anything more than an anti-Bobby Brown rant; him being the subject matter for a considerable portion of the interview.

Notwithstanding that Bobby played a major role in Whitney’s drug abuse and him (allegedly) abusing her in times past, what I was looking for was she taking ownership of her missteps. She did not.

While calling Bobby out for his miscreant behavior was fair game, I was longing to hear her say that she took full responsibility for her drug use and ditsy behavior of years past. That did not happen; instead she played the blame game.

At the end of the day, I have to say, I am truly excited that Whitney has bounced back from her darkest days, that she is looking exceptional and has a great, new top selling album, but I’m still left wanting.
