Got Music?
September 26, 2008
Praise and Worship Music can be a healing balm whenever I am having a rough day or going through a rough moment. It can lift me up from a feeling of void into the presence of the One who has promised to be with me even to the end of the world. (Matthew 28:20).
Praise and Worship Music brings me literally into the presence of the Almighty. The Bible says that He (God) inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). What better place is there to be than in the presence of the Healer, the Restorer and the Atoning Sacrifice for our sins?!
Why not swap Secular Radio for a Christian Music Station for a day and see what a difference it will make in your life; especially on a rough day?
My favorite is Positive Life Radio. Listen online at www.plr.org
God bless you,

I can only imagine
September 25, 2008
Here’s the Washington Brazilian Youth Choir singing ‘I can only imagine’ at New Hope Church in Fulton, MD
Dear world,
September 18, 2008

Sleep last night for me was a hard sell as I mustered through a gamut of emotions as reality in a certain matter began to assert itself. When the short hand on the clock finally made it to 5 and the long hand to 12, I decided to get out of bed, gather myself and hit the gym for an early morning workout.
Appropriately timed was ‘Trading my sorrows’ by Israel Haughton, the first song I heard when I turned on the radio on my way to the gym (thanks WGTS!)
When I arrived, I got on one of my favorite elliptical machines; one of the few where the Closed Captioning actually works on the attached flat panel monitor.
Might I also insert here the added caveat that the new Dunkin Donuts conveniently located down stairs to the gym finally opened for business today. Let me be the fifth to tell you that comfort food rocks!
Suffice to say, in addition to the mental boost that scientists suggest that one gets from engaging in high intensity physical activity, I was able to get some comfort food: spiritual and physical comfort food.
As I write this post (which started on the elliptical machine at the gym), I think I am ready now, more so than a few hours ago, with the help of God to carpe diem!

September the 11th
September 11, 2008
This day in history, September 11, 2001, remains a moment that we must never forget. More importantly, we must never forget the misery that hatred and intolerance can inflict on mankind.
Buddha once said that “peace comes from within”. We all, to a certain degree can help prevent another September 11th. We can do this by sowing seeds that are reconciliatory and peace-minded and seeds that exemplify tolerance and faith, starting in our own lives and then with those closest to us.
If we sow those seeds my friends, in the words of President John F. Kennedy a few days after September the 11th in 1956: “(this will) be a year of promise and greatness, a year of hope for the era of peace that lies ahead, and a year of fulfillment for the vision we call the democratic way of life.”
Today, I honor the fallen heroes of September 11, 2001.

President George W. Bush
“Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children. “
This new journey….
September 9, 2008
A NOTE TO MY READERS: In this post, I did not add context (that was intentional). Given that there is no full disclosure, it is possible that you may (initially) be confused. I hope, however, that you will be able to take away from this enough of what could allow for a positive application to your own lives.
Manifested in the last few months was a tremendous (and unexpected) paradigm shift in my life. It was a paradigm shift that some conclude results in a denial of who I truly am, but for me, it has brought restoration.
Some suggest naivety, but for me, it is my fervent belief in that the sky is the limit when the intentions of a few good natured people are pure.
Some suggest that I cannot handle this journey, but this is not a journey that I intended to handle with my own strength in the first place.
This has been a tremendous journey; one that has been met with many questions, yet with many answers, much doubt, but more optimism, much fear, but more hope.
An author once said that all of life is a journey, the paths we choose. What we look back on and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination; we determine what kind of road we will take to get there and how happy we are when we get there.
This journey is one that I choose. I choose this journey not because it is expected, but because to the core of my being it feels right, it feels true, it feels pure. It is completing me.
