Where was God?!

Yesterday, a non-Christian friend asked me where was God in the tragedies of the bridge collapse in Minnesota and the more recent coal mine collapse in Utah. Even as a Christian, I’ve asked myself that question several times, especially when innocent lives are lost.
These tragedies, I understand serve as reminders for me (and you) about how fragile life can be and how important it is to live a morally and spiritually upright life at all times. In a split second, our lives or the life of a loved one can be taken away from us- without warning.
While the question of where is/was God in the midst of tragedies is a legitimate one, we should not use it as an excuse for turning our backs on Him; it in fact, should serve as a catalyst for renewing our faith in Him.
