Where are most Christians on Sundays at 10am? You guessed it right…at church! So why would the Republican Party host a forum at 10 o’clock on a Sunday morning…..on the ‘Lord’s day’?!
Of late, I’ve seen a surprising shift in the Republican party when it comes to value support (i.e. support of candidates based on their ‘moral’ values).
Republican George W. Bush, in the 2004 Presidential election was the professed anti gay marriage, anti-abortion and pro family values candidate; 80% of value voters supported him because of his stance on those issues.
Fast forward to today; Rudolph Giuliani, the leading 2008 Republican Presidential Candidate supports gay rights, abortion and is thrice divorced. Yet, he is their leading candidate!
Are we seeing the end of the Republican Party being the political pawn of right wing/conservative Christians?
In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for; as for me, I rejoice that I am not a Republican.
