Why do women talk so much?!
January 30, 2007
Us men, have been given the gift of being able to (in perfect sync) nod in approval, smile or answer ‘yes’ when conversing with a woman without her noticing that we’re not even listening.
I got caught offguard today, however (apparently this woman caught on). We were talking casually while I was browsing the net on Palm when she asked if I wanted to take a spliff (i.e. smoke a cigarette).
My response was ‘yea!….sure!’. I am not a smoker, she knew this and went in for the kill, ooooh….she let me have it!
After about half an hour of her ranting about me ignoring her, (or was that what she was saying?) the best thing was to from now on, lend a more attentive ear….right? No uh! Seriously, do I need to know that it is ‘that time of the month’ or that your dog needs a haircut?
After much consideration, I decided that I needed to step up my game. I can’t afford to be busted like that another time! I need to quickly think up some more generic responses that can pass for ‘yes’, ‘no’, ’sure’ or ‘im not sure’. Suggestions anyone?

SURVIVOR TRACKS BY Destiny’s Child…aka ‘DC’
My best friend was telling me that he was having some issues with his love interest. Instantly, I thought of my future ex-wife’s (Beyonce) former group, Destiny’s Child. Pop in any of their albums and you will sing and dance your heathaches away.

Brief Movie Reviews

Brief Movie Reviews
The movie ‘Stomp the Yard’ to me is nothing but a cheap makeover of You Got Served and does nothing to help dilute the (self-inflicted*) racial stereo-types of black America.
What ever happened to black movies that in the least attempted to break new ground like Blade Trinity or Roots ?
LIGHT IN THE TUNNEL…
Dreamgirls, although not an original in its strictest sense, raised the bar (which perhaps had no other way to go than up) and was followed closely by the Pursuit of Happiness. The Pursuit of Happiness was great even though the story was annoyingly over-stretched .
Of movie-makers, the quality of recent ‘black’ movies is the greatest sign of their lack. Innovativeness is too often starved for the sake of making a quick buck.
Dreamgirls and The Pursuit of Happiness were perhaps the only two black movies worth seeing.

Clothes in the tree!……..?!!!!
January 22, 2007
Yesterday, I heard the news that one of my favorite cousins was involved in a vehicular accident in Trinidad. Here’s an excerpt on how one of the local newspapers reported it… “…he lost control of the car which went airborne, struck a huge tree, and overturned several times. The four persons in the car suffered serious head injuries and broken bones. Two of the victims were thrown from the vehicle while their clothing remained stuck in a tree….”
My cousin was severly injured but did not sustain any life-threatening injuries (praise be to God!). Certain things came to mind though in the flurry processing what happened…
-
The car hit a tree and flipped several times…Can someone tell me how did his clothes end up in the tree !?
-
…looking at the carnage, he’s blessed to be alive!
-
If he was wearing a seatbelt, the injuries would have been less extensive (i.e. dislocated hip (sic), broken ribs, broken, leg, etc, etc.)
-
Why was he driving without a Driver’s License!?
