ABOUT AKHENATON
There is hardly a box that anyone can put Akhenaton in. He often alludes to that he hates boxes. More so, he hates when people try to stereotype, label or use preconceived notions in their assessment of others.
As you read his blog, you will notice that his opinions on different issues vary from conservative, to moderate, to liberal. He says that he is a work in progress, not blindly confined to any specific ideology or any form of religiosity. His faith, as a consequence is relationship-focused rather than religious-minded.
Like the great Pharaoh Akhenaton (after whom he was named by his parents), he finds it necessary at times to go against what tradition has established. “I believe that often times, tradition is (or can become) synonymous with mediocrity; God does not tolerate mediocrity”.
The primary practic
e before the reign of the Pharaoh Akhenaton around 1350 BC was ‘Polytheism’ (that is the worship of more than one gods). Akhenaton is known to be one of the pioneers of Monotheism (worship of one god) and established that practice during his reign.
Akhenaton says: “As someone who primarily subscribes to the ideologies espoused by Jesus Christ, I believe that my calling is to be different or set apart from that which has already been established by the status quo; this requires thinking outside the box. Like the Pharaoh Akhenaton, I believe that advancement comes when one thinks out of the box. A great stepping stone to advancement is fully embracing the God of the universe not in the context of religiosity, but on a personal level.”
In addition to being active in his local faith community, he finds purpose and fulfillment in life by serving others by volunteering at a local Homeless Shelter, sponsoring three beautiful children through Children International from India, The Philippines and Ecuador and by being an advocate for the people of Darfur.
My desire, Akhenaton says, is to inspire those who have involuntarily escaped the clutches of the emotional, physical, spiritual and mental mainstream and offer fresh and practical ‘thoughts’ based on (his) life experiences.
I invite you to join Akhenaton on this journey on his blog and hope that you will be inspired just as I have been.
